Schools And Hunger

If you are interested in school feeding and our partners’ efforts to make sure every student has the nutritious food they need to succeed, please check out the great work our partners are doing.  In Washington State, only 11% of the children who receive free and reduced meals in school have access to free summer meals.

  • Hunger in Schools Report:  Share Our Strength compiled a comprehensive study of hunger in schools, and the way that hunger shapes the futures of our most vulnerable students

  • Children’s Alliance Breakfast Challenge: Studies show that breakfast is a critical meal for students.  It helps them concentrate in class and reduces classroom disruption – letting their peers learn better too.  Yet, today less than half the children who qualify for free or reduced meals are eating breakfast in Washington.  The Children’s Alliance is partnering with the State of Washington and local schools to change that.  Check out their great new effort.
