Below is a message of thanks, posted by the Emergency Feeding Program, one of Lawyers Helping Hungry Children's grantee organizations, and a beneficiary of the Mayor's Day of Concern, with which we volunteered yesterday, collecting food outside of supermarkets in Seattle.

"Thank you to everyone who helped out with our annual Mayors' Day of Concern for the Hungry food drive yesterday! We are deeply grateful for all of our volunteers and supporters.

Our warehouse will be busy for the next couple weeks sorting through and unpacking all the food donations we received yesterday. Once those barrels are empty we can start packing bags of emergency food, which we'll be sending out to our network of over 140 distribution partners. This network of social service agencies, food banks, schools, public health clinics, community centers, and faith communities make our bags available to individuals and families struggling with hunger wherever they might be in King County. Our bags are available whenever, wherever people need it - we do not turn anyone away.

Thank you again to everyone who helped make this year's Mayors Day of Concern for the Hungry food drive a success. Your hard work and donations will help keep food on thousands of tables in our neighborhoods this winter."
